In addition to the Telugu-speaking states, the Seemantham function is also important in other states where Indian culture is practiced. According to scientific technology, the developing fetus in the womb of a pregnant woman depends on the mental and physical health of the mother to be healthy and to grow with regular growth.
That is why a pregnant woman needs to be very physically careful during the 5th, 7th and 9th months. So it would be a priority for her to celebrate the function within these months. This means that during these important months, she will be provided with meals along with exquisite, luxurious snacks for mental well-being as well as physical health development. Good saris are offered in the form of gifts. Yet her mental pleasure is doubled by the makeup that the woman desires. She is also overjoyed at this serendipity event by her blood relatives and other close team. Seemantham Specialties
In some areas the Seemantham function is celebrated with much fanfare by the pregnant aunt’s uncle. Pregnant parents, close relatives and other close friends are invited to this function.
It is customary for parents to offer a variety of sweets, sweet fruits, colorful flowers, bangles and rubber bangles, especially the new silk sari, which the pregnant woman loves so much. This sari is brought not only to the pregnant daughter but also to the mother-in-law of the pregnant woman. They also feed their pregnant daughter a sweet dish called “chalipindi” which is a nutritious snack made by mixing sugar or jaggery with the right proportions into a variety of whole grain flours.
In some other places a different recipe called “kajjikayalu” is made and stuffed into a pregnant woman’s abdomen. In addition to such unique delicacies, sweets and fresh fruits are put on her lap. A pregnant woman’s sari “kongu” is pocketed and stuffed into it to fill her abdomen. This sari kongu is also known as mask. This kongu is stretched backwards when the sari is tied. Seemantham Process
On a holy day according to Hindu time, a pregnant woman is seated in a chair facing east. Then on behalf of the mother and mother’s relatives, the aunt and the invited close relatives will present new saris in the form of gifts to the pregnant woman as per priority. They decored with flowers and painted yellow by other elderly women who are allies. She is then blessed by all of them.
